Alexis Cruz, a 20 year old dancer and choreographer, has been training for 11 years in Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, and many more styles. He was born in Puerto Rico, where he began his study in dance. He trained in different schools such as Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, CoDa21, Waldo’s School of the Performing Arts, among others. At the age of 17, instructor and choreographer Andrea Kramer offered Alexis a scholarship so he could come to New Jersey and train at her school, Ballet Forte, for a full year. During his time in New Jersey, Alexis participated in different performances such as the lead in the Nutcracker, and won 3rd place in Senior Men Contemporary at the YAGP with a solo choreographed by Kramer. Alexis has participated in both Ballet Hispánico and Alvin Ailey Summer Intensives, and recently, he took part at the ‘Moulin Belle’ artistic residency which took place in France.
Alexis is currently a Junior at Montclair State University, where he is completing a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Dance and a minor in Musical Theater. One of his biggest goals is to share his art around the world and inspire the people, especially young dancers, to make the world a brighter place through art.
